WACS, (The World Association of Chef's Societies), is a global network of chefs associations founded in Oct 1928. From small beginnings it now has got a membership of 81 official chefs associations worldwide.
An elected presidential body consisting of the WACS president, vice president, treasurer, secretary general and ambassador honorary president manages WACS. Currently the Icelandic Chefs Association holds the presidium and Chef Gissur Gudmundsson is the World President. Furthermore a board of continental directors that look after regions of Asia, Europe, Africa, Americas and the Pacific region, which New Zealand is a part of. Separate committee manages all culinary competition-related affairs, with representation from throughout the world membership countries. NZ Chefs Association life member and “Honorary Member” of WACS, Mr. Murray Dick is on the Marketing & Communication Committee.
The World Association of Chefs' Societies (W.A.C.S.) is a non-political professional organization, dedicated to maintaining and improving the culinary standards of global cuisines. We accomplish these goals through education, training and professional development of our international membership. As an authority and opinion leader on food, W.A.C.S represents a global voice on all issues related to the culinary profession.
