Auckland Branch International Day of the Chef EVENT
Come Celebrate IDOC at Mt Eden

20 October is set aside as ‘International Day of the Chef’ – a day set aside each year to create widespread awareness for the profession, and for the profession to give back to society through charitable events, culinary competitions and demonstrations.
It is also a day, on which to assist the younger chefs, but most importantly, the day when we recognize the very important role that chefs play in our societies, for we have a great responsibility not only to feed, but also to give nourishment.
Chefs have the responsibility to lead the way when it comes to the use of ingredients in a sensible and responsible manner. Since the International Chef’s Day inauguration in 2004, many events have taken place around the world to benefit charitable organizations and disadvantaged communities; this has highlighted that chefs are caring people and have worked to improve their image.
In New Zealand we focus one year on promoting the professional and helping, and the next year on celebrating our day.....
Around New Zealand each branch will be organising their individual events. This year the Auckland Branch is celebrating the day with a BBQ and drinks in the courtyard of Molten Restaurant owned by Michael & B Van de Elzen, Mt Eden Village, Auckland. Jeremy Schmitt from Two-Fifteen Bar and Bistro is providing his famous sausages for the BBQ. The dress for this event is Chefs Jackets, and you will be required to wear one to get a free drink. We look forward to see Chefs in their jackets from 4.30pm – 6.30pm.
Kind regards
